Winter Storage
This Weekend I came back home, to sort a few things out, and put my trees into their winter storage.
Pic 1: These are the evergreens / Semi- Evergreens / Deciduous trees that haven't dropped their leaves yet, they'll stay here all winter, if theres a severely cold weather front heading this way, they will get some horticultural fleece thrown over them to ward off the cold. Pic 2: This is my Beech forest planting, It'll stay here for the winter (partly because it is too big to get into the greenhouse), but like the others it will have some fleece over it in the event of extreme cold weather. Pic 3: This is the rest of them, What are everyone elses wintering techniques? -Matt-

Winter
G,day Matt do not have that problem my trees stay where they are my biggest problem is summer. Opposite to you guys. Temps in the high 30s Celsius and above. So its shade cloth up over the benches. At the moment we are going though our coldest November on record so far not one day at or above 30. So we might have a mild summer!! we have had record rain for the month though so that is a bonus. Down here in Canberra, it's like the weather didn't get the memo about changing to summer - all cold and rainy. Some scorchers, then back to cold and rainy!
I've only got the one bonsai at the moment, but now I wonder if Canberra weather is bonsai-friendly ![]() |

I did go and see the collection - unfortunately it was on the last day of Floriade and ten minutes before the park closed. I really enjoyed them, though, and they were an additional inspiration for me to start bonsai
![]() I have a little balcony at a shared apartment, so I worry more about protecting my bonsai from the exposure there - I'm not crafty enough to nail up any shelves or shelters! Which trees did you donate, Pup? I have to go back and have a proper look! Last edited by Tangerine; 11-29-2008 at 08:02 AM.. |
