New for 2011 'Shohin Off' weekend
The British Shohin Association are proud to announce the 'Shohin Off' weekend - to be held on Saturday 19th and 20th March 2011 at Willowbog Bonsai.
After organising successful annual exhibitions for the past 5 years, the BSA event for 2011 will be quite a different bonsai experience, quite possibly unique. Not the usual show format; however, the event is to have a much more practical, hands-on focus. Lots of interesting things going on with simultaneous talks, workshops, slide shows, working on trees, imparting information about everything [well almost] to do with smaller sized bonsai, theory and practice, as much as we can fit into a weekend really! There will be a small show element with about 20 invited compositions, some brand new trees and some past winners the aim is for very high quality. The BSA have selected Willowbog Bonsai as the venue for this new weekend of bonsai Willowbog have kindly allowed us to stage the weekends activities there and use the excellent studio and display area facilities. The Willowbog Nursery is also fully open all weekend as normal to the general public. The whole weekend event is FREE for BSA members (except for the pot making workshop with Walsall Ceramics and Stone Monkey Ceramics) Membership to the BSA is just £20 for the year and includes a regular newsletter and events like the forthcoming Shohin Off weekend - just join on the day Already confirmed for the weekend... o FREE workshops with Marco Invernizzi and Peter Warren - on your own tree(s) (Workshops need to be booked in advance as places are limited) o FREE lectures, critiques and shohin forums o Pottery workshops with David Jones Walsall Ceramics and Andy Pearson Stone Monkey o Specially selected exhibition displaying some of the premier shohin bonsai in the UK o Saturday night dinner and famous BSA Auction o Bonsai traders o Plus much more!!! You are most welcome and we'd love to you to come along and join in - this is sure to be a not-to-be-missed event. More information about Shohin Off is available now >> |
