Mine is not a Ginsing Ficus, have you had that experience with other types of ficus? I am not sure the species of mine but its roots are thick because the trunk is around 4" in diamiter, never have had to stop watering in the winter.. Of course I keep my tropicals over 65 degrees in the winter under lights.
