Producing Ficus Roots, Aerial and Otherwise
Here's a ficus with not much going for it, as it was up until January 2007. The second photo is after wrapping the trunk in sphagnum moss and foil, tenting the tree with a dry cleaning bag for the winter, and repotting today.

Looking good! Yep, that will usually do the trick. You just have to make sure those aerial roots have hardened off or, have rooted before taking away all that protective moisture. If not, they will literally disappear before your eyes! But, all in all it looks as though it has a great start and is well established.

Jerry, thanks for those kind words. I have since re-wrapped the tree and will begin working on design next May or June, depending on our weather. I just wish I had the infrastructure to keep more tropicals!

Stone slabs don't work too well for indoor trees. Watering becomes a really messy chore.
I do love stone slabs though. Jerry The Art of Bonsai - Jerry Meislik |

Hey all,
Here's an update on the ficus after chopping the "s" curve out of the trunk. I think it's coming along nicely!
