Boxwood help

Hi everyone

Long time reader of Bchat. I've been reading all the web sites regarding bonsai for years. Hope you don't mind, but in my opinion, this site is the BEST for real bonsai chat. Anyhow, I have this boxwood. Had it for about 2 years, and I was wondering if you guys had any ideas about styling it? I've been doing bonsai for 13+ years, but I was hoping for some inspiration on this tree.
It's 29in high, and 13in around at the base. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Mike

Mike ....sounds like you have been at this much longer than I, so I would not be of much help. I have a few small boxwood and stay on the look-out for style and design. Yours looks really nice....I cannot get the pictures to enlarge for a better look?
Have A Great Day!

A shallower oval pot and lowering of the branches would help some.

Yes that picture enlarged for a better view. It looks good to me, like I said I am new at this.

I really haven't been in this very long either, but I'll give my two cents. I like the idea of a shallower pot, although the one its in really isn't bad. And I love the dense canopy; however, maybe it would be beneficial to thin it just enough to reveal some of the branching structure.

Hi there, nice tree. I would totally agree with Mcbonsai - lower the branches and a shallower pot maybee in Blue to show off the tree a bit better. cheers Phil G

Good call on lowering the branches, thanks. The pot is too large, I tend to over pot here in Fresno because of the heat in the summer. Anything that helps hold a little more water.
In my experience, boxwood are a brittle tree, so I will have to use guide wires to pull the branches down some and that should open up the trunk line. I'll post another pic when I'm done. Thanks for the help.
