Hi Merci
I did the bark strip I made two cuts around the branch about 1 inch apart Then striped the bark down to the cambium layer (it is very important not to leave any small pieces of bark joining the two cuts or it will be a bridge for the sap and no roots will grow) I then applied a powered rooting hormone Then I used soaked Sphagnum Moss around the cut Then put clear plastic on and tied both sides of the cut I then put black plastic over the top (tied both ends) to keep the light out The reason for putting two layers of plastic is the clear plastic lets you check for roots and moisture of the moss without disturbing anything I have also found that the two layers of plastic have an air layer between them which helps to keep an even temperature and if the moss is drying out then I can inject water with a syringe This method is the only one I have had any success with air layering Genko Shrimpy
