I knew about the moss, plant then remove, but i never heard about wiring fruit. so thanks for that info. Some fruit trees don't take kindly to being chopped about, a lot of them only grows fruit on old wood, so you have to watch where you cut them.
I spoke about my plum tree and also i have a large cooking apple tree, not Bonsai, but if i chop them, they wont produce flowers, so no fruit. If " Ravenna " can give info. about this, how she does it, such as cutting and trimming. Maybe you may have to leave it alone for a season to get on with it? A tree is just a tree no matter if it is in a pot or in the ground, i don't no how much you have trimmed and cut off, but it ain't happy about it. Cheers.

Hi Chris, Wheeler,
thanks for the info regarding the Superthrive... somehow I don't seem to have received a messagte that you had written or must have overlooked it which is why I was so slow. I don't anything in particular really. I do my usual: have three buds with leaves and cut back to two when they have grown. |

I do agree with Antonio on this which really does support the reality that it is the NPK we should be looking at, not the brand name. High N in Spring and equal amounts of NPK in Fall. The public are being guided by 'Rose Food', 'Azalea Food' Etc. etc. but this can be ignored if you take into account just what your trees require regarding NPK and it will probably work out a lot cheaper for you.

Hi Chris,
as I don't wire mine there is nothing to cut in. I let the leaves develop quite far - harden off - or whichever way you want to call it. hmm.. any clearer now??? I will look at the ferts I have but so far I haven't been using any different ferts for spring and autumn - actually the one I use is supposed to be for both times of the year and I haven't tried to specially fertilize so that flowers develop. |
