Like most 25 year olds that I know, very untidy. In need of a good trimming around. Like all of my Grandchildren once tidied up are beautiful.

Cheers Pup

Yup, time for a good trim. Since there are no leaves, now is the perfect time to really examine the silhouette and decide which branches are most beneficial to the overall design. For instance the first large one on the left of the 'front' view seems to be too straight and at a disturbing angle. If it does branch out somewhere closer to the tree I'd cut it there and try and bend it down some to lessen the problem. If not, I might seriously consider getting rid of it. Just work you way up from the bottom like that.

Cheers,

Arty

Oh, my yes, - great potential, needs thinning out. Start at the bottom, working up the trunk picking the best branches for your primary branches. From there, cut off things that are growing straight down or straight up from those branches. If there are clusters were there are multiple branches coming out from the same point on the trunk, reduce them. There looks like a branch coming straight out towards the viewer in the photo - take that one off. There are so many branches clustered together in the photo, its impossible to point out to you which ones need to go, but at least half or more need to go.

I wouldn't even attempt to start trimming this by myself and I've been doing bonsai for 5 years. I wouldn't want to cut the wrong branches (you can't glue them back once you cut) and this tree needs lots of careful trimming. I'd find a workshop taught by a good bonsai master ASAP. They love having nice material like this to show you how you can transform this into a show quality/ready tree.
