Pots hand made
I have tried my first attempt at pot making this year, and i have around a dozen already made, but i am unsure where in the UK i can get glaze from.
My local art shop did not have any in the last time i went there, they may have now but if they have not, does anyone know of a site, or company to get it from. Is there any thing i need to steer clear of when buying glaze. Best regards BD Paul

Hi,
sorry I can't help you regarding glazes in the UK. My best guess would be to search via google but I just wondered: if this is your first attempt at pottery I assume that you don't have a kiln yet. Why don't you ask who ever did the bisque firing for you where he/she gets here glazes from or see whether you can use some of his or her glazes. Glazes tend to come in rather large batches and I assume you probably don't want all your pots to have the same glaze. The stuff is also something you want to keep away from kids and food so if you are not sure yet how much pottery you will continue to make finding someone who lets you use their glazes against a small fee may be the better solution to having the stuff standing around. |

I only plan to make enough pots for myself, thats about a dozen or so a year, and i will just make them in one batch. I may then be worth while finding out if for a small fee, someone could fire my pots, but failing that a pit in the ground will have to do. I have plenty of timber to use as fuel, and i may very well experiment with different liquids to create a color. Best regards BD Paul
