First try

Hi,

I have recently started taking some pottery classes and have made my first pots. I must admit that I really enjoy it and that it is a very addictive hobby... (yet another ) I thought I'd show you my first results. I have a few more in the making which I will be glazing next week if the they didn't break during bisque firing (though if you just have a couple of hours per week it does take quite some time before those pots are finished with glazing and all...)

The blue one is oval, the others are round (middle one is for accent plants)

Well, let me know what you think and obviously any tips, ideas etc. are welcome

Ravenna--It's really hard to tell from photos. I think you should send all three to me for further examination and testing.

I like them a lot, very nice. I think they would look even better with some more elaborate feet but I'm sure thats hard to do. Anyways, how much you want for them.

The first one was supposed to be my Christmas present, but Ravenna forgot to pack it... Maybe she will ship it for my birthday!

Hi, thank you Tom. Yes, the feet are actually fairly difficult as I want to make sure that the pot is even: so I cut them out at an equal height and try not to alter them too much when I work on them, as that might reduce their height in a way that is uneven - giving me a pot with a tilt which wouldn't be good for the tree as the water woulldn't flow off.

For the time being I am busy trying to get the pots themselves look quite symmetric when I have more experience with that I will also try more fancy things with the feet.

Hi Jim... hmmm... weird... I sent you an exact copy of that pot: didn't you get it??? Anyway - may be you are lucky that you didn't get it: you might have been rather disappointed as the feet are quite high on this one

I have a favourite tree all set to pot into it this spring, whenever that arrives (6" of fresh snow as I type this). I guess I will have to wait for it to go on sale.

Dear me, Jim, I am not sure why you would choose this pot for your favourite tree. The pot has feet which are too high. Still... I don't know how you do it but you really manage to make me feel a tad guilty for not sending it to you.

And thank you too warrior
