Hello from a lurker.
Hello all:
I been lurking for a while and decided to finally make an account. I see a few people from the old bonsai site I use to visit bonsaicanada.com which is now gone. So hello to you. I have been into bonsai for about 4-5 years. Still in my infancy. My favorite trees are larch, maples, and Ficus. My collection also includes Junipers, cotoneaster and birch. I got into bonsai after I bought my first house and finally had a place big enough to start. I built a less then spectacular bench out of some old barn board my father dropped off and started with 3 trees placed on the bench in a corner of the yard that was over run with sumac an old tool shed and a 15 foot tall 6 foot wide tree stump. From there my over active imagination took over and I started my bonsai/seating area construction (which you can see in the link below). More benches meant more trees and here I am now. I have about 20 trees in various stages of training. I’m mainly a backyard bonsai practitioner with my only training from books and internet. I know this is a big minus for my training but shift work makes it impossible to join any sort of club. Trust me I tried. But still the internet is always filled with information and great people to share and pull from. I’m not doing this to become the best, I’m doing this because I enjoy the journey. I been wanting to get back into a bonsai forum for some time so now that I’m here I can get the camera out and get some information, help and comments about my trees from all of you guys and gals. BonsaiCHAT seems like a great place to connect with other bonsai enthusiasts and I look forward to getting to know you all. Thanks T.M. Bryan |

Hi Tanuki, welcome to the site. I liked your photos of your trees and garden...very nice!! Thats a lot of work youve put into your garden eh!
Bonsai training doesnt have to come from a club, the best training in the world comes from experience from growing and trying different things with your trees. Your trees look very good so there is no ''minus'' with your training at all so dont be so hard on yourself!!! I also like your photos of your trees, and look forward to seeing more (especially the birches as that is my favourite all time tree) and your cotoneasters as i have a few myself. cheers Phil G |

Hi Tanuki
Great trees. And welcome again. Thanks for your help with the wisteria. I got a question. Are you going to put the circle in your display area? (see your vrt) I think it fits great with the garden. Nice touch. Welcome to BonsaiChat. Mike

Welcome aboard Bryan. Very nice garden set up! Yep, I think that circle you envisioned would really kick it off.
~Phil Love that avatar!
