The plants that I grow as Lolly pop Standards I keep in a shade house for the hot summer months the cloth is about 3 metre's above the ground and gives good filtered light.
Its not until they are bigger and are potted up to the next pot size that I put them out into direct sun. Shrimpy

Mine is not in the direct sun yet, it is still under shade from my pines. I looked yesterday at all the leaves that have fallen off. Then a closer look with my reading glasses on and saw a good many small red buds coming out all over it! I had not re-potted it but maybe just the move to my house shocked it a bit. Anyway it appears to be in bloom.
