As for the moss there was no need to place that on soaking wet sphagnum moss as that stuff will grow moss, mold and God knows what else faster than the Ebola virus! Of course than again, that horrendous pot might scare everything else away! The other thing that really drove me up the wall was his constant comment after snipping off branches was; "There, now it looks more Oriental". Just what the hell is "Oriental" looking supposed to mean?! This guy belongs in a mall kiosk selling painted turtles! What ticks me off is that some unsuspecting person who does not know any better and is interested in starting bonsai may possibly see this pea brained idiots video and think thats all there is to it! As to those who are initiated to bonsai and know better it was to say the least very entertaining and in some ways actually quite funny! Was almost like watching a Saturday Night Live skit!

You really are letting him have it!!

I felt kinda sorry for the guy.. mainly because he learned this "technique" from some other guy's video I suppose and he really thinks this is all there is to the art of Bonsai. "just get em to fit in this busted looking pot and snip it a few times to make it look Oriental..."
It seems like a quick fox for those unable or unwilling to spend the time and energy to learn how to take proper care of their trees, and to learn the EAL techniques and artistic side of Bonsai. There is a lot more to it than just getting the tree to live in those little pots... but some will never know and never take the time to learn. I thought about this video today and kinda laughed to myself as I spent HOURS re potting and styling a few of my azaleas... one of the worst parts was that all he did style wise was his first little pruning to make the tree "look Oriental" (I suppose he meant ASIAN...). after a year or two when he showed the tree again, it was clear he had done nothing to it since the first video...
