mystery tree

the tag said "calamondin orange", but i thought it was some kind of maple that was mislabeled. now that these blooms have appeared i'm not sure what it is.

I have one suggestion, while I was at work Yesterday I saw this House plant and instantly thought of this thread, it has similar foliage and similar closed Flowers, I asked one of my work mate and she said that they come in red as well though they are more uncommon.

Its a Passiflora caerulea

the flowers do look similar, but the leaves on mine are shaped like acer palmatum, though a little larger.

What you have is a Chinese maple "Chinese lantern" I think. They sell them in my area as annuals. I can't seem to find a good pic of one but you can search google. I don't think it would make a very good bonsai but that doesn't mean you cant try.

I was pretty sure this was an abutilon, and looking for info on the species, I found out that is is sometimes called "Chinese lantern" or "flowering maple".

But it has nothing to do with maples though :
