Hibiscus bonsai
Hi All
Yesterday I went to the local pond supply store, and as usual spent some time talking to the proprietor. Bonsai came up due to a remark about the size of the largest pond basket on hand. During the conversation she mentioned that she had recently seen a Hibiscus bonsai. I ask about the size of the flowers, and she responded by touching the tips of her right index finger and thumb together. I have never seen a Hibiscus bloom so small, does anyone know of a Varity that produces this small of a bloom? Does anyone have a Hibiscus bonsai, and do the leaves and flowers reduce? What verity is the best to use? Good growing Paul |

G, day Paul.
I have or I should say Mrs Pup has two minature Hibiscus one is called Princess unfortunately I do not remember the other one I will ask her to see if she remembers. Both though have small flowers. They by the way are not Bonsai. I have just asked it is called pink apple blossom. The leaves are quite small and the flowers are approx 25mms (1 inch ) both these trees are in pots as standards. They have not been repotted in 14 years so they will adopt to pot culture without any problems. I have just been out in the dark ( things I do for friends ) and measured the leaves. They are 20mms long 10mms wide these are the largest ones (3/4inch long 3/8th inch wide). The smaller leaves are10mms long 5mms wide ( 3/8th inch long 3/16th wide ) so it looks like they will reduce. I hope this helps some Pup
