I'd open up the bag, gently wiggle the cutting, and see how firm it is. If it immediately falls over, then it doesn't have roots yet. If it seems firm, then you can gradually 'wean' if off the bag. Taking the bag off for longer periods of time each day. I've seen things root in a month, and I've got a couple of elm cuttings that still haven't thrown roots, though they've been bagged for 3 months - and still showing new leaf growth.

Cypress update....The 4 original trees are doing very well in my opinion. I do want to get the trunk larger so I need to just let them keep growing ...right? If I cut the top out the trunk will not get as large...?
The one that was air layered is doing very good also.
Now the on going experiment with the 2 tops that I just left in the water un-attended. I had seen a couple of small green dots showing just as I was about to remove them from the water and trash them. Now you can see one of them has leaves coming out from it under water and the other one has leaves coming out above water...I am going to watch them as long as weather allows. I guess they will drop all leaves this winter. That is if they make it through "fay" ...I have pine limbs fallen all over the place here. I moved all my good trees from under the pines till Fay moves out. (not really bad here in Bama, lots of rain and high wind gust at times.

Have A Great Day!
