Rash IE body

I have just been onto AusBonsai.com, my home away from home, with the occasional, visit here.
A question has been posted, about getting a serious rash on both arms and legs, from working on Junipers.

What are the best treatments for this ? if any one here has suffered the same problem what did they do? about it.

Thanking you in advance. Pup

Hydro-cortozone creme in an OTC version will reduce the redness and help clear it. I believe it is from a mild allergic reaction to the foliage.

Thanks Jim I will pass that on to my unfortunate friend. He has had a few offers to take the offending junipers over for him till he recovers. Or gives up at the threats, from his spouse keeping her awake with his scratching.
Cheers Pup

The allergic reaction/rash or the Junipers?

Yep, the 1% OTC Hydrocortisone creme is terrific and something I always keep in the medicine cabinet. I first used it when a pharmacist friend of mine recommended it to me when I got zapped by a yellow jacket. I HATE those freaking things! They seem to become very prolific here sometime in September and people get stung left and right and blame it on bee's. Bee's don't attack for no reason but these cursed yellow jacket's do and they can sting over and over again. Once I got it four times when one decided to crawl up my pant leg! DAMN those suckers hurt!

I know the feeling

Hi guys,

I am allergic to pine and first found out with live Christmas trees. Jim you are right hydrocortizone or Benadryl cream with help with milder reactions.
For harsher attacks OTC oral allergy drugs.

If I'm not careful with Junipers I can have the same reactions. ie:runny/stuffy nose, watering in the eyes etc. It best to wear long sleeves and gloves when working with them.

If you scratch you risk infection and open up a whole other can of worms.

The skin on my hands is usually painful for a few days after working on San Jose junipers, but that isn't an allergy--it's millions of little hypodermic stab-wounds!

Pup--for prevention of the rash (if it is an allergy) you might try "Yard Glove" barrier lotion which works great at holding grime at bay. You could also try a barrier lotion designed to protect against poison ivy.
