Seaweed Extract
Hey all, I was wondering who of you out there in the Bonsai world have tried and or use seaweed Extract and with what Brands and results? I know there are some out there that seem more in the form of a nutrient cocktail while others are more formulated in fertilizer form. I'm leaning more twords a nutrient additive form if possible, that I can use as an additive to a fertilizing regiment. Sounds like it could be a wonderful addition to my additive collection I use for my Bonsai. Any personal experience or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have only really used it with a purpose so to speak, on bare root imports in a soak 'em overnight situation in the past and was not unhappy. I have also mixed various 'teas' for same. To be honest, I don't really see a difference between the two in results. The latest batch of Chinese imports for instance, arrived two weeks ago and I used the brand name mycoboost (for this year's root soak). Most are already budding out despite numerous nights only in the 50's. Each year is different but, I think its safe to say a seaweed extract would have produced about the same in quick...er...starting-ness.
My only other experience with these types of treatments are with cuttings, or similar root cutting applications and they do work with these as well. No reason (in my estimation) then to doubt you would have results as a foliar application if that is the type of supplement you're looking for.
