Cheap, easy to get training wire

Good morning eveyone! I have read on many forums of pepole ordering copper wire for training there tree's and thought i'd share what i do to get it. I go to my local scrap yard/recycling center and i buy it off of them. Like pepole who sell it to the center, the center also sells it by wight, so i found that by offering a little more than what he's getting for it the center sells me all iwant by the pound and let me tell ya u can get a lotta wire buying it by the pound, lol, all sizes to. only thing besure to claen the wire very well before useing, no telling what salvants ect. may be on the wire. hpe i helped.

Do you anneal the wire before you use it? Part of the high price of buying copper wire is the time and effort to anneal the wire.

Generally Aluminum wire is best (and most used by professionals) for Deciduous and Tropical since its easier to apply and is less likely to damage the tree. Copper is only usually best when used for drastic bends or on harder type trees (Conifers).

Yes MB, i anneal thewire before i use it. Simply roll some news paper in a circle then take a losely coiled coil of wire and place it on the paper n burn it. You can buy alumminum and copper wire from the recycler also.
