Identity

I would like to give a thought on the new image in the header. I think this look is suspiciously close to another web site Bonsai Nut. Now they say that the sincerest form of flattery is imitation. I think in this case it does not help establish BonsaiChat.net's own identity. A image up in that great big open space is a wonderful thing. I think the powers that be need to rethink what should go there and that it is fresh and original.

Just some thoughts to contribute to this great site as it evolves. BTW: if you do keep the present image you might consider sharpening the image.

Hi Tom,

Your concerns have been noticed by the powers that be, and the wheels are in motion to go about a change, as it were.

Thanks for your contribution!

Tom…..you scared the living hell out of me this morning when I looked at your post this morning! The first thing I saw was that large logo I had placed up last night and I thought there was some glitch in the program.

Actually it was just a simple matter of me not being able to stand the previous logo I had in place which was done hurriedly when I opened up the site much earlier than I had anticipated. I have a small collection of Japanese garden pictures and I simply picked out one that I liked, cropped it and placed in the name of the site. I had meant to place in a “Happy Holiday” on the side of it but I found myself just about falling asleep at the computer and never finished what I had intended to do!

In answer to your question on it……no, this is not the intended logo for the site and I thank you for your input and concern as to the making of a unique logo for this site. I’m seriously considering the possibility of having a Logo contest on the site and letting the members place in their entries and then placing them up for a vote to all here. This will achieve two things. The first being, and one that I consider most important, is to involve the members as much as possible as to this site and it’s progress, and the second would obviously be in gaining a logo that all will like. Of course then again, if there may be some who don’t care for it they certainly could not blame me!

I’ll try to work out some details as to the contest and set some parameters as to what I want. This would by no means be a serious competition but yet at the same time an everlasting one in some respects. That would be, the winning logo would indeed become an integral permanent part of the site. I would then give full credit as to the member who wins by placing their name at the bottom of the Homepage where I have my copyright information as to their designing it.
Are there any members here up to the challenge? I have Photo Shop Pro 9 but I have never taken the time to learn it and I certainly do not have the time to do so now. When I get the details worked out I’ll make an announcement about it and all the details as in, begin date, ending date, voting process, logo parameters, etc.

Now that is a great idea!

Thanks Chris, but in truth I stink at making logos (but I enjoy making them!)

I just wanted to ask how the "logo contest"-thread works. I posted two logos last night and they still don't show in that thread. I guess that submissions won't show up until the mods have decided on 5 logos that the members can vote on?
