Pop-up Adverts - Members Please Read

Hi All.

It has been reported that there may be Pop-up internet adverts connected to this website, these are Not intended to be on the site, so we would like to know if anyone else is also getting Pop-up internet adverts while browsing the site, to allow us to tell if this is an isolated case or not.

Please let us know on this thread, or by Pm'ing Phil, Me, or Jim (JL).

Thank you in advance.

-Matt-

No pop-ups for me.

It might be related to some images hosted elsewhere (imageshack or other).

Anyway, use Firefox, it helps...

If anyone should happen to experience a pop-up on this site I'm more than confident that it is in no way related to this this site but more than likely related to ones browser and or, lack of not being able to stop pop-ups as related to whatever browser you may be using. As for me, I've never experienced one while on this site.

Phil,
I have not had any pop-ups while on the site.
I realize the advertisements are necessary to help finance the hosting fees. It has been my experience that some "links" to adds can / will / and do add extras and may not make you aware of it. Which may be what others have experienced. You are correct also that it could be isolated to the individuals computer. Pop-ups can come up after one has moved to another site and or closed internet explorer all together.

That's all too true. Yes, you can experience pop-ups even if you don't have your browser open. Years ago I used to get so many on my desk top that they were layered on top of each other and at times would obliterate my entire screen with advertisements!
I then purchased a pop-up blocker and its seems to have put a stop to them. I do on occasion get one after I turn off my browser but they are very few and far in between. If I honestly thought for one moment that members were getting them as a direct result of some of the Google ads that I have here I would immediately get rid of it but I know for a fact that is not the case.

I'm constantly on various support site forums related to Web masters, vBulletin etc. and have never heard of any complaints about Google ads (AdSense) or pop-ups. If truth be known, I at times spend so much of my time on these various Web master forums out of necessity that I hardly have much time left left to myself to post here!

However, if a pop-up should result after clicking on some particular ad that is part of a Google ad it is not directly related to Google and or this site. Anytime you get on a Web site you take your chances and its up to each individual to be aware and handle any unfortunate incident that may occur or result from doing so such as pop-ups and take the appropriate measures.

Well i aint had any, but then i use Firefox.
This i have screwed down tight, but sometimes this can backfire on you, no pop-ups and they wont let you through.
Also cookies, i have left them alone, if i dont like one, i block it.

I also use Firefox and think its great. If it were possible to get rid of "Internet Explorer" altogether I would do so but, MS will not allow it. There are many times when I go to a Web site and click on a link it automatically brings up I.E.
When this happens I simply highlight the URL and copy it. I then click off of the I.E. page and go to Firefox and paste the URL into the browser window.
That is how much I hate and distrust I.E.!

I am surfing the Web quite often for various oddities and information. Firefox will stop what they call "pop-ups" at the top of the page and will notify you of this although in most if not all cases they are not actually what we consider as "pop-ups" but merely full access to the actual Web page. If you know where you're at and feel safe with it you simply click on the Options tab at the top right and click "Allow pop-ups from this site" and you're set to go. If not....don't click! In most cases its simply a matter of being aware of where you're at and using some common sense.

popups

Pop- ups dont realy bother me, just ignore them.
Remember if you click on one thats that, your email box will be full.
They are not easy to get rid of them, the best way is switch on yer blocker,
just remember to add them to your list, they are like fleas on a dog, so dont do it.
