Oval, rather than rectangular; fairly shallow and wide; color, something on the beige-muted yellow-tan range.
Them's my sentiments. Someone else?

Pot for boxwood
Quote:
Thanks for your reply, and that sounds good to me. But depth of the pot is something that confuses me, in this case. Is the trunk to pot higth ratio to be both trunks or just one? Whats your take on this Treebeard? Anyone else got any ideas? |

I was thinking of a nice deep tan, drum pot. it looks good in the circular basket and the depth with a boxwood should be a little deeper than usual.

Paul, with a twin-trunk you can go with the combined girth of the two trunks, to give you your pot depth.
But -- you can also go with something shallower, provided it's also wider! The wider it is, the shallower it can be. I've seen some very nice multi-trunk compositions in wide, shallow containers. You want the entire visual mass of the pot to be about 2/3 the visual mass of the tree itself. (Someone correct me, please, if I'm wrong about that ratio.)

Box pot
Hi noissee
That's a new and interesting idea! You are in tune with Treebeard as to color M.O.L. the 1/3rd deeper than trunk is good with me, as here in Florida I like a little "extra" volume. Not a lot just a little. Thanks for your input. Good growing Paul |

Can you tell the dimensions of this twin trunk?
The advises received are good. You have other options in form and external design of the pot. I don't know about Boxwood, but you can plant this twin trunk over a rock slab, creating an scenario with small rocks, moss and sand. Remember that the tree should define the pot and not the pot define the tree. Pots are to complement the tree. About the ratio of pot and tree, it depends in the tree style and appearance. A sturdy formal erect tree (Ficus, Black Pine) uses a larger pot than a delicate formal erect (Serissa, Azale |

Hi there, well it is dark out right now but my best guess is about 8" high. I have never had the skill to do a rock planting, the soil always winds up on the ground. I have used several kinds of Clay to no aval. BTW why are you mad at (Serissa, Azale Good growing Paul |
