Box No. 2

Hi,

just had a very interesting, very intense bonsai week-end with loads of nice food and and and...

So I thought I'd just present you my newest family member "Gulliver" (I think it is obvious from the pic why he got that name). As usual we drew the trees by lot and I must say I got one of the trees I liked best. It looks a bit disheveled now but I hope that with time the big gap between the green and the trunk will close (that is at least what the teacher (Francois Jeker) assured me. I would have never dared to remove so much green if it hadn't been for him. I think the front will be somewhere between the two "after pics". I will work on the deadwood next year in April.

The tree has been cut back so much that I suppose there not many new options right now but still I look very much forward to your comments.

Regards, Ravenna

P.S.: Gosh, I must say it after all though: you guys shocked me: this is the first new thread under this subject since I presented the restyling of my old box in JUNE??? What on earth you guys doing all the time??? Shame on you!!

I like picture 2 the best. Though you know me, I would be removing the leafless branches to the right, or are you hoping they will back-bud?

It seems so unlike you to leave the deadwood in an untidy state. So the Ummmming is because I suspected there was more than just awaiting new growth on the left to fill the gap... now I know.

Hi,... hmm... now I have start umming.... I think you don't have a clue about how untidy I am if you think that I would have serious gripes about an "untidy deadwood"... lol Right now my place is a serious mess as I am busy studying for my exam tomorrow... (please keep your fingers crossed... :-) ) But even wouldn't want to have stumps on my trees forever... :-)

Well, I guess I should go and do some "serious work" now...

Wow! Very dramatic, Ravenna. You've almost persuaded me to give boxwoods another try.

For some of us, anyway, it has to do with spending more time with our trees and less with our keyboards. At least to some degree.
