Pinus sylvestris
Don't panic!
This is only what you call a Scots pine. I was walking in the woods in the mid-90s when I put it into a plastic bac (at that time, supermarket provided you with as many as you wanted). It grew by itself, developping branches on one side. I hesitated betweeen a winswept tree, a cascade, and a literati. Now it's on its way, but I still need advice before I carry on. What future do you see for this one?... PS : I prefer to embed pictures. I find this pop-up device fad rather tiresome December 2004: windswept (fukinagashi) ![]() December 2004: followed the advice of friends on French forums, semi-cascade (han-kengai) ![]() March 2005: I've never liked it that way, literati now (bunjin-gi) ![]() November 2007: it inspired the president of our club, Alain F., who had a tree selected for the ginkgo awards a few years ago. this is the first styling he did : ![]() January 2009: this is how the tree looks now. Any advice for its future?... ![]() Last edited by AlainK; 01-10-2009 at 02:26 PM.. |

alain i like it very much as a literate. the movement so far is breath taking. calm and beautiful. have you decided what size you want in the finish? for this size there seems to be too much foliage on the other hand if you are intenting to grow it out that is another matter.

I would like to keep it about that size, and I agree with you Antonio, I have to remove some of the foliage, especially on the right-hand side. I would also try to find another solution for the top than the twist you can see : I like spaghetti in my plate, not on bonsai
![]() I will wait for the advice of members of my club who are much more skilled than I am, there was a workshop last weekend, but it was much too cold and I didn't feel like leaving the house (-12° C at night!) |

![]() And yes, this was basically what had in mind, but I don't want to hurry because in spite of all its faults, I do think it has a potential. |
