Tsuga Canadensis "Jervis"

I picked this little guy up today. On the way home I was debating on trimming the roots or the top growth. I decided to go with the roots, and good thing I did. If there is a superlative for rootbound that would the word to use. There was hardly any soil in the pot it wa so full of roots. I trimmed them up and put him in a 4in pot, which is bigger than one he came in but not too much. I plan on keeping about the same size he is now.

So the question is, do I now need to leave the top growth for a year?

They have some other little Mugo's and at least one other Tsuga. I might go pick up another tomorrow.

Proposed front of the tree

Back of the tree

If it were mine, I'd either plant it in a grow box, or preferably, outside if you can do so for a few years. Other than that, I would leave it alone for awhile as it's been through enough with the re-potting.

Right on, thanks Phil.
One other thing. My folks told me Hemlock is poisonous, is this true or false?

Hemlock (a low growing, fleshy plant in the Apiaceae family ) is toxic. Hemlock (Tsuga ) is not (unless you eat the whole tree) normally considered toxic. A problem when people use the same name for completely different plants.

Damn.....no wonder I got so sick!
I can't believe I ate the WHOLE thing!
I hate when that happens.
