Another maple (Kiyohime)
Hi,
I just wanted to show you the Kiyohime I got this Sunday. It is in the broom style in which all those trees seem to come but I liked it's gnarled trunk (difficult to see on the pic) which I felt distinguished it from it's smooth-trunked brethren... what do you guys think? |

Very Nice Ravenna! I see why you bought it over its Brethren, this one has a much more characterfull trunk the the others!
I Wouldn't mind if my new pot came with this tree in it ![]() -Matt-

Nice tree, Ravenna: as Matt said, lots of character to the trunk.
I think that character would be easier to appreciate if the branches were thinned out some. ![]()

Hi,
glad you all like the tree. I agree with you treebeard: the crown is to dense and actually - you can't see it well on the photo - there are a couple of branches which have become rather thick at one place because there are so many smaller branches which start from there and which look ugly. I think I will have to remove those and that will leave rather marked "holes" in the canopy. I also feel that the canopy is too large for the trunk - it should be a good 10 cm or so smaller. So I have plenty to do. @MI: I don't understand what you mean with "I am not sure if I have seen it before"? Do you mean the variety of tree or this style or this tree in particular? |

Kiyohime (sp?) is available in the US, tho I'm not sure how common it is here. I believe Brussels' sells it, and Meehan's Miniatures may as well.
