Snake Bark Maples
Hi all, I've just purchased an Acer capillipes from work, it was reduced down to £4 so I had it, its about 10 foot tall with a trunk between 1-2 inches thick.
I've done a Google with the words bonsai and acer capillipes, but got very little in return, and a search for snake bark maple comes back with a majority being about a snake bark palmatum variety. Has any one had experience with this tree in bonsai? -Matt-

I have several snake bark maple varieties growing in my yard as landscape trees, including Acer capillipes. It is a nice addition to the landscape, and I've wondered about its potential as a bonsai specimen, but have no experience with one as such. I can tell you that the tree I have in my yard grows quite quickly and its trunk is thickening up nicely.
