With my maples i find that pruning small branches during the growning season is alright with some cut paste, cutting or pinching bac new shoots leave a nub on the end so it can dry out and fall off and less sap is lost form the branch
in late spring i had a butterfly maple that got some bad vermiculum wilt all right through the middle of the truck. they only way to get rid of it is to prune off the unfected or leave the tree cause they can soeimtes heel thenselves fomr it. instead of cutting the tree down to about 2 inches high i just did a big jin on the maple and i bleached and sealed it and the tree is really healthy and vigourous now. the second pic isnt very good, and the dead tree next to it doenst help either:P |
