Zelkova
This is a real zelkova, not a Chinese elm named "zelkova" to avoid problems when imported.
Originally, it was two cuttings that I wired together to make a double trunk. they didn't fuse (or they haven't fused yet), but i like the shape. 1st picture was taken on June 2007 2nd picture : November 2007 3rd picture : today. I have to place the first branches at the back better, but I like it because I find it has a kind of "Chinese feel". If I find one, I will perhaps put it in a rectangular very shallow tray with small rocks to make a penjing. |

2nd May:
![]() 24th June: ![]() It looked better in May but since I repotted this year and the pot is very shallow (it's actually a tray in which I drilled holes), I'm not so keen on leaf-cutting it this year. All the more than at last, summer is coming and the weather is beginning to get hot, but windy : very risky for potted trees. |
