Cool Wisteria

If you remamber i purchased a Wisteria a while back from Heron bonsai.
It is at least 22yrs old, in a large round clay pot a trunk over 2inch across and covered in buds.
I have kept it in my cool room on a south facing window, but i could not poke my finger into it due to the amount of roots.
Appearently the are supposed to be like this, pot bound is what you need and they love plenty of water, even sitting in a tray with water.
Last Friday i noticed the soil was coming away from the side of the pot, so into a basin of tepid water it went, left it for a couple of hrs.
Today i noticed the large buds which are supposed to be flower buds have started to open, very happy about this, i thought i had bought a brown stick.
The compost is not supposed to be grit, they wont flower, only produce roots.
As far as feeding, no Nitro, only long green leaves no flowers.
I have to say Heron bonsai did all the trimming before i got it, so this gives me an idea on where to chop it, nothing to beat a tree ready for next year, will post pics. as soon as it gets into action. Cheers.

Barry
Once more buds open i will keep an update on it.
I will have to keep it well watered from now on, even though it is winter, but it is in my cool room so no wind or frost.
Aint sure if the big buds are flowering ones or not, but the small ones are not doing much, appears to me they are the leaf buds according to what i have read, we will see. Cheers
