Site Pop-ups, Members Please Read!

Hi all!

I've been asked by Phil to make an announcement on the forums regarding the Pop-up ad's which many people have been having problems with.

Phil apologises greatly for any inconvenience these pop-up ads are causing you all, and he would like to inform you that he is working around the clock to try and remove them from the site. They are not supposed to be there, no one likes them, and they are generally unwanted!

He is working tirelessly in the background trying to sort this problem out, with very little help from "technical support" who appear to be more interested in making money than helping a site like this.

Thanks for all your patience though this.

-Matt- on behalf of -Phil-

You Da Man Phil! From my experience tech support will do little to nothing to help a customer. Matt is right its all about "show me the money". Unfortunately it would seem that you will have to work it out for yourself. I have 4 open support tickets that are over 2 weeks old WRT to my forum....haven't heard the first peep. Good luck, and keep the faith.

All I ask for is your kind patience to all of the members here as this make take quite awhile to get sorted out. There are certain technical issues that I can take care of and have in the past but then again I know my limitations and this just so happens to be one of them. Although vBulletin has what they call support tickets they more or less told me to shove it unless I can grease their slimy palms with money and out and out refuses to handle the situation. To paraphrase one of their replies;"If you can't do it I suggest you find a friend who can"! Well, so much for tech. support and shelling out money each year for it let alone them raising their prices sky high! So be it but I'll do my best to get things resolved albeit it may take awhile. At least it's nothing nearly so bad as to what happened with BT! My God, I think it's going on close to six months now! Again, thanks for your patience and anticipated understanding with this issue.

~Phil~

P.S. Matt, thank you for taking the time to make the post on this problem and explaining the situation while I stepped back for awhile to pull my nose out of the keyboard!

For what is' worth......I may be completely incorrect, it's just my thought. I may be repeating some of what I said in a past post about spyware/virus/pop-up/junk and computers. I spend 8 to 9 hours a day in front of computers, configuring, networking, and fixing. Many of the hours is the removal of junk that gets on them from sites visited. (I have never gotten any of that on this site, a couple of pop-ups/not many as I have pop-ups blocked through IE6) but what I tell my customers daily is "nothing is free" when you click on an add you get MUCH more that you think. So I ask the question, could it be that the adds that are on here may pose to Phil that they are just Innocent adds but have much more packed in and do not tell him?

Keep LOOkin Up!

No, it has nothing to do with the Google Ads that are on the site. Believe me, if they ever caused such a problem Google would never hear the end of it from all of the thousands of customers they have.

This is related to certain templates that I’ve changed over the course of time and it seems as though this current version of vBulletin has suddenly taken a disliking with them. It’s a very finicky program and certain things will suddenly out of nowhere cause a problem and it at times simply snowballs into other issues and is next to impossible to track down. Hopefully I’ll get it sorted out someday so, as I said, please just have patience with these erratic pop-ups.
