Tom, it’s really good to hear from you again! How come you had to log on as a new member? Did the site somehow knock you off for not being on for a long time? Whatever, it’s great to see you back and more importantly I hope your health has improved.

As I remember it seems as though you had started a forum site but for the life of me I can’t remember its name? Is it still going and if so how is it doing? Yes, the Google ads are getting a tad ridiculous because no one is clicking on them so there is no feedback to Google and therefore they are automatically placing in ads that are no longer non-bonsai related. One thing for sure is that I’m going to take off the YouTube module on the homepage as that is becoming pure nonsense!

Yes, the economy is indeed in terrible shape so that may possibly account in some ways as to the reduction of posts combined with people working on their trees. It still amazes me that BT is still down and has been for close to 5 months or so! Anyway…..good to hear that your health is better and to see you back again.

Is the interview with Pup still accepting questions? (As of 9/17/09.) If so, I just might have one to ask.

I'm one of those who thought it was only about Australian natives, and my knowledge of Australian natives is abysmal! Get beyond Eucalyptus and -- I don't even know if Melaleucas are broadleaved or needled, conifers or flowering. My questions in that realm aren't even at kindergarten level.

Like Centaura and Tom mentioned, I'm trying to strike a balance between participation on bonsai fora, and working with my trees. I limit myself to three fora -- this, BonsaiNut, and Bonsai Vault. Each one offers at least one unique feature; e.g., in less than an hour I'll be sitting down for the next session of the Pine Study Group on BV. Looking forward to it!

Hi Phil...good to be back on BC

Site name is Bonsai Vault and were slow to...only thing popping is our study group program. Which is a tell on who the real hard core addicts are.

Perhaps people are still in mourning for BT and thats why the participation is off. Matt must have one hell of a task in front of him to convert it all.

I prefer to think people are getting more in tune with their trees...and less with their keyboards.

The You Tube decision has my vote...wise decision. BTW...I love and can identify with your avatar

Guilty as charged.

I'd like to think it's true, too. And for me, to some degree it is.

Hi,

sorry to hear that things here have been slow here. I have been rather lazy going on bonsai forums lately too.

With my studies over I just enjoy not having to be on the computer so much in the evenings. I have just been coming here, bonsaitalk and a German forum but I haven't been busy on any of them for ages but I have become more involved with the local bonsai groups. My classes in Italy have stopped now and I tend to work on the trees I have rather than acquiring new ones so it isn't all that thrilling to show I fear... but I will try to show some pics if I have anything interesting.

I think I know what this particular problem may stem from...the audio adverts are crashing my browser....took me 5 tries to get this post up. I'm using firefox and if these audio adverts are going to crash me it won't be long before I become completely frustrated with the site....good thing I'm a stubborn SOB.

Phil...you really need to get rid of the audio virts if you expect participation to increase.

Believe me....they took me by surprise not that long ago!
It seems as though the only time they pop up is when you click on a forum.
I'll definitely have to contact the vBulletin tech. support forum and see if I can get an answer as to how to get rid of it.

I notice most of the forums have slowed down. Could be also that some have lost interest in bonsai to some degree. Bad economy, good import trees being held in seclusion for two years before being able to sell. As things begin to slow down for us northerners, one thing to look forward to if you do JBP is the fall work. I picked this one up a few months back and am waiting to do the fall plucking and branch wiring. I have about four more in different sizes that will also need the same, so I'm highly anticipating that work.

After doing bonsai for many years, I must admit that I have moved on to other interests also and have not been around posting much either. Maybe the same for some others also?

I just wanted to pop-in and say "Hi"
I too belong to other bonsai forums and have noted that they are slow as well.
I look forward to sharing my experiences and as a beginner, learning from those who are willing to share what they have experienced.
