Double entendre
A number of years ago, my sister and I were talking with a friend from England. In the course of the conversation, my sister asked our friend if the English celebrate a national day of Thanksgiving, as we do in the US every fall.
Perfectly deadpan, he replied, "Yes, we do, on July 4th." ![]() To my fellow US citizens, happy Independence Day tomorrow. And to all our other friends, I hope you have a great day, however you choose to spend it.

Hi Treebeard
Our eldest son was born the 4th July which has always made it thanksgiving for us. His wife is expecting their first child the 2nd July we were all hoping for the 4th. As usual she's leaving it to the last minute she's only got 81/2 hours left of today. Shrimpy

I hear you! That certainly makes it a day for thanksgiving.
Lessee, it's July 5 by now in NZ. Did your daughter-in-law make it?

Congratulations, Grampa! And best wishes to Zander and his parents.
Sorry to hear that you had the hospital stay, but it's good to hear that you're back on your feet, and able to carry out your grandfatherly duties.
