Hey Matt I don't think me and the missus will be welcome back. Last time we were there 20 years ago you had what you guys call a heat wave looks like another one. Here it has so we have been told rained almost every day while we were away. It has now stopped so I was able to get and look at my trees. I have to report no problems.
Young bloke has really earned his inheritance. It is cold though 0 degrees at night 10-17 during the day. Pup ![]()

The weather here is about a carbon copy of what Cheryl is dealing with.
Jim, I think you had best move! For the past three years or so it seems as though your weather been been abominable for all of the seasons! New Hampshire does not seem like the place to live as of late. ~Phil~

I live in scotland which is usually very wet and cold, even in summer but this last week we have had nothing but blazing hot sunshine - but the worst thing is the humidity level, theres so much water in the air i think i could drink it!!!!!!
The water levels in the rivers that i work on have dropped by a few feet in places and we found a dead salmon today that had died from heat exhaustion because the river water was at 70 degree.( We expect a few more casualties) I have almost lost two of my Silver birches in the heat which are dropping leaves like crazy as well as a few dried up seedlings...oh well makes a change from loosing trees from too much rain eh! Cheers Phil G. |

Wow, Ask and you shall receive. To the person who sent the sunshine, Thank You very much, it is greatly appreciated.
Phil, I have actually given that some thought.

Hi Mary
Mostly I water once a day. My benches are shaded by trees during the hottest part of the day. I have 2 more benches to the side of this one. They have even more shade. Mike

I see you have mostly conifers (at least on that bench), which don't need twice a day watering, even in the furnace we call California in the summer. I have lots of decids., blooming trees, and shohin that don't appreciate the 100 plus weather. My conifers don't even notice the hot weather, except my 2 japanese white pines and a hinoki, which start loosing needles by August.
