I like both fora, for different reasons.

Not sure. I've been doing a little more lurking at Bnut consequently.
They have a thread just like this one you started, but no answer yet.

I have not been able to get in either. Working in the IT business myself I know a server rebuild can take a few days if it is not a "planned" swap. But you would get a "page cannot be found" error if the server was down. I had seen something about them doing some testing on "virtual server" so who knows they may all be "Lost N Space". We will just all Play here for now.

Keep LOOkin Up!

The message I've gotten for the last three days is "The server is too busy at the moment. Please try again later."

Does that tell you anything?

Early it was something about bandwidth, now it says too busy. It would seem there were too many users logged in. I thought maybe I was hitting at the prime time of the night. I do not try during the day while at work, do you get the same message all day too?
The page you see is coming from the server so it seems it is up and running.
Just for fun try this, go to your "Start" then "run" and type "cmd" and Enter. Now you are at a black "dos" screen. Type (without the quote marks) "ping www.bonsaitalk.com" press Enter. You will get "Reply from 63.247.68.97" so you know the server is online. Now try "Ping www.bonsaichat.com" and you will get "Reply from 64.202.189.170" from Our Favorite Bonsai Site! You can do the same in reverse. "Ping -a 64.202.189.170" and you will get the Name of the server hosting the website. If the server is down you will get a "host not found" replay.

Ok Class is over,
Michael

Thanks for the class, Mike. I did try what you suggested, and BT replied. Hope it can get back up soon.

I did some lurking at BonsaiNut last nite, and checked that thread you mentioned, noisee. Still no answers. I did see enough gloating to put me off a bit; gloating from people who (obviously from their posts) had been banned from BT at some time past, and still carry the sting to their pride. Maybe I'll check back to see if there's much discussion of bonsai, maybe not.

And a thought did occur to me: the more time I spend on bonsai fora, the less time I spend attending to my trees! Gotta find the happy balance.

I was sort of expecting a resurrection of BT today.

Not unless someone is orchestrating something ... I have to admit that after reading some of the "soap opera" comments about BT from a few on BN, I started wondering about a denial-of-service attack.

Treebeard......I also thought it could be a DOS attack. I have a small website through "register.com" and they sent me a notice last week that all their servers had been down because of a DOS attack. I would think that the site could at least have a message posted on the page that we are seeing.
Happy Easter!

Hey when they do come back up someone ask for me why why I can not post. I have not been able to post in like a year. I think I said something someone did not like as I sometimes do. but I think for one occurrence a year is kinda heavy handed.
