Here is a link to a removal set of tools :

I've used Avast on my three computers for over 2 years and never had a virus since.

Virus alert

Thanks ever one, i am trying the normal procedure to remove this program, by going to Control Panel, then add and remove, but it still will not take it off.
This program came with the start up disc, so you think i would be easier to remove, but i for one will never get Norton.

Best regards BD Paul

Why not simply try the link AlainK sent?
I had to use a program called "Destroy It". Damn, that was fun watching Norton disappear! I hate that thing almost as much as I hate Microsoft.

Confuser's don't mix well with too many people including me!
That's why I spend so much of my time in the background just trying to keep this site afloat!

I have seen people use the free AVG...but reread the above.
When it comes to the retail versions the 2 top hitters are McAfee and Norton ...I prefer the Norton Anti-Virus...it does everything you need without slowing you pc down too much. Stay away from the Norton Internet Security, Norton System Works or Norton 360. All are good but do way too much checking and blocking which slows you computer down. Just get the plain anti-virus of what ever you get.

... in my experience McAfee is not compatible with IE6 or better. Before retirement we had a corporate license which meant it was free. While it was free no biggie with issues but having to buy a sub-par virus software every time windows fixes their leaks is a pain. There is compatibility problems between the two. Now windows is not about to tell you that, it keeps the software industry rolling just like automobile parts

Having switched to a Linux box allowed me to retain my remaining hair. I have had no issues since I switched in Sep '07, including viruses (no virus software installed) (periodic checks = clean). I don't even remember how to use reboot anymore LOL.

Linux is not for the faint of heart but it is better than the MS alternatives, besides all software is free. Running forums on the other hand, I am not sure how that would go about as I don't have tape on my glasses LOL.
