What camera
I am in the process of purchasing my first digital SLR camera at entry level, and i have found two that fall into my price range.
1- Olympus E410 DZ twin lens kit, 14 to 42 mm + 40 to 150 mm. 2- Canon EOS 400D with standard lens, 18 to 55 mm. My primary object is to photograph bonsai, but there are other things i am interested in. Is there anyone with experience with these cameras, and if so can you give me your opinion. Best regards BD Paul

G,day Paul
Given my druther's I would go for the Cannon with the extra lense 18= 55 is fine for Bonsai pic's the bigger lense for close up's of wild life and action shots, my mate has one OH what I would!! to own one . JMHO

Thanks Pup for the comeback, i have been looking at several reviews on the mentioned camera's, and i have finally whittled it down to three Canon's.
The EOS 400D, the EOS 1000 D, or i may stretch to the Canon EOS 450 D. but i want to go to the local store, and see how they handle, and how heavy they are. Then maybe i can decide which one to aim for, but as you say, the standard lens will suffice for bonsai photography, and i can put some cash together to buy a zoom lens at a later date. Best regards BD Paul

Well after weighing up all the pro's and cons, i have decided to opt out for the Olympus E410 DZ, with a twin lens kit.
I have read the reviews for several of the other cameras, and although favorable, the extra cost is just not worth it. The Canon EOS 1000 D has had a poor review because of the cheap lens that comes with it, so that would have to be replaced straight away, incurring more cost. The Olympus is a light camera, much lighter than the Canon, so it may be suitable for me. The picture quality on review, scored 9 out of 10, and an overall score of 8 out of 10. This is the best score out of any entry level SLR camera's, and at a cost of £299.00 UK, in my opinion a bargain. http://www.trustedreviews.com/digita...Digital-SLR/p1 Best regards BD Paul

" I have made up my mind ", these are the famous last words i spoke on the subject.
![]() ![]() But yet again i have altered it coming up with a better camera again, well for me it is, and this is a Sony A 200. Very good reviews, and it is technically compared to the Canon EOS 400 D, but with a quality lens, which is 18 to 70mm, and it scored 9/10 on the rating. The best part is the price, £280.00 UK, $560.00 USD. Cannot wait to get it. Best regards BD Paul
