Favourite Music

This thread is just a bit of fun, designed to help us get to know each other a bit better, and maybe uncover trends in bonsai artists.

So, whats you're favourite music genre? and why? You can select more than one, and results are public.

You forgot Folk... excused because of your extreme youth.

Agreed! Rap is not music nor, does it have anything remotely to do with music!

Years ago it was not even allowed on the Grammys as it was not considered to be music! I'm pretty open minded but when it comes to Rap I draw the line.
If I hear anyone listening to it I automatically assume that they have the I.Q. of an egg timer!

One of my favorite current songs is "Old Time Rock-and-Roll." I can't listen without at least a big grin, if not laughing out loud. To think that rock's what we played/sang, when I was a teen, to bug "the older generation!"

As for rap ... it doesn't fit the parameters of western/European music, but I think it does fit into what African cultures regard as music. And -- as with any genre -- if it's well done, with internal consistency and respect for parameters like rhythm, I find I can enjoy it. It's still not my favorite, for whatever that's worth.

Hell.....I must be getting old but, just what is "Indie" music?
Keep in mind that I used to see the band "Chicago" play before they were well known and had the name: "Chicago Transit Authority" before the city slapped a law suit against them for copyright infringement and then changed their name to "Chicago"! Now that was a long time ago!
