I've always been tempted into looking into getting a bore hole installed, in the UK, you can extract up to 20 cubic meters of water before the need to pay for a licence, so it's just the initial cost, that's of course, if you live in an area with sufficient ground water to tap.
A vegetable garden is a must! I've taken up veg growing again this year, I have 7 Beefsteak tomato plants and one moneymaker, I have a tray of strawberries, second earlies and main crop potatoes, a hanging basket with a trailing tomato in it, lettuce, apples (fruit) and raddish! I can not get enough of being able to, when i'm making a sandwich, go into the garden and pick some fresh salad leaves, or picking fresh strawberries for a fruit salad! -Matt-
