This is the page that draws my interest. The stumped chinese elms and the 1 gallon satsukis. I am a bit worried that the distance and climate difference could be a problem.

Anyone?

Very easy. Don't order anything until at least the end of May! I would never order any tree be it tropical, deciduous and or Evergreen until that time. Problem solved!

Very true thanks for that. I get very antsy this time of year.

Although I'm guessing the elm will have to be kept as a subtropical tree. I think if I do order, I will only get the elm cause I have my hands full already with what I have. I'll tackle a satsuki next year.

No I have not purchased from the site, but I did add it to may Favorites list. I like the "raw" trees in the larger pots.
Thanks for the site

Tom,
Did you ever order from Schleys? If so were you pleased with service?
I was looking at a tree on the site.

Thanks,
ML

I have not ordered yet but I have emailed them and I received very prompted responses. If you have any questions, feel free to email them. I plan on ordering a Chinese elm as soon as the temps stabilize.

i ordered a black pine from schley's in the past month and i was very pleased. he called me personally and asked me what i was looking for, i told him that i wanted something with low branching and that i would plan on chopping it. he advised me not to chop until next year as it was already too late, but he actually ended up sending me a tree that he had already chopped earlier this spring and i was very pleased with the selection. the tree arrived in good shape, not dried out or anything. the prices are very reasonable as well, i plan on ordering more from him soon.

I emailed them after my post here. I too got a quick response with my questions. Then today I called and talked to Jason, he was very nice and helpful. He walked out to the nursery and looked at the tree I was asking about, then came in looked up on the internet to make sure we were talking about the same tree. They did not have many left of the one I was looking at and I did not have time to order today. He then offered to "red tag" it with my name, no money or credit card. Jason told me he had just uploaded many new listing just last night. I have not been there to look yet but plan to. Seemed to be his personal business, I plan to order without any concern. And thanks for your input Noissee, that seals the deal.
Thanks,
ML

I ordered a "Tansu" from Schleys a couple of weeks ago. It is much different shape than the Tansu I already have. This is about 20" tall, nice tree but I have no idea how I want to shape it. After it came in I talked to Jason and he recommend a 12 or 14 in pot. I ordered the pot from a different vendor, it came in and looked huge to me. Then today I started to move the tree into the pot, this tree is one large root ball mass. It will fill the entire pot if I leave the roots as is. Jason said he had done a cut back on the roots last year. I don't want to cut back too much, I feel the less I mess with the root mass the better chance I have of not killing it in the move. It got dark, so I put it back in the pot it shipped in. Potting is one of the fun task to me, I have to put some thought in this one. I guess this would be treated like a pine...any thoughts on cutting the roots back or leaving them?

I have known Jason for a number of years. His nursery continues to improve. He's an upstanding seller and a good person to boot. Expect better and better stuff from him as the years progress.
