This months winning tree is a Camaecyparis which I started 2 years ago from a piece of nursery stock purchased as a possible starter for the spring styling contest. There was a progression thread I created when I first started it. The insperation for the styling are the origional trees in the Lars Anderson Collection, the oldest collection of bonsai in the United States. In the fall of its first year I planted it in a grow-bed to in the hopes of developing better growth. That winter something ate all but the lowest 4 branches, so it is now headed to a radicly different styling.
