well, I haven't watered mine in awhile. the leaves are still showing no signs of drying out. I found out that my chopstick didn't reach the last inch and a quarter of my pot.
Anyways, I'm sufficiently humbled, and my leaves have slowed the yellowing. I think it will keep right on recovering.

Thumbs up Thank you for the update!

Noissee,

I'm happy to read that your Elm is on the road to recovery. From what you are stating it definitely seems that way.

My experience with them is limited as far as yellowing leaves goes. I have found that if the leaves are yellow = overwatering.

Bottom-line, it's all trial and error, and if we come out of the experience having learned something from it all the better. Especially if the tree has survived.

By the way, did you check the roots for root rot? You don't want to have to contend with that next.

Good luck,

P.S. By the way, I recently asked one of our senior members, Michel, to put his checklist in our articles. It is very useful in diagnosing problems when going through the process of elimination. We've had it on all of our sites and it is very handy.

last update

The tree has no more yellow leaves. I cut it back a couple weeks ago for shape and rami, and its almost needing another snipping. growing very strongly now. Thanks for the help.

Noisse......I was wondering how your tree was doing. I continued to use the spray on mine and cut back on the water too. My large (new) one stopped dropping leaves but does not have any new growth. My small one seemed to be slowing down when I cut back on the water. The problem is it needed to be re-potted this year and I waited too late. Now the soil is pretty hard with roots, so it dries out quick in this heat. I had to pickup on the water and now it is starting to loose 5-10 leaves a day...getting to look poor (but we did get a couple days of rain, which may have started the yellowing again). As most of my trees..the heat here is taking the fun out of them.
Have A Great Day!

Yeah, I haven't had to water mine in almost two weeks (rain). You might try slip potting into a larger container. Also, are you feeding regularly?
