I have the good fortune to be in that study group. It's the next best thing to taking a regular class. Very helpful.

Opening do sometimes occur. You might want to consider requesting a spot.

I might have left it alone for another year. Since you dug it up, you will need to continue to baby it for another year or two. I find alot of trees, post collection or transplant, will dedicate most of their yearly growing toward re-establishing a root system. Once the roots are there, the top takes off and that's when you can start your styling. Any recent pics?

Alas, Treebeard, I work nights so I'm only able to get what I can from your transcripts. Vic

Dave, I'm sure you're right. I put it through the wringer trying to get all of the termites out of it. It is starting to lengthen some of the little branchlets and they have that fresh yellow-green color. What I don't have are many new buds. But I think if I follow what the study group is doing
(but not too aggressively), I may be able to get more buds to break. I'm adding a couple of recent pix. Vic

No worries, Vic. Yews are tough. With some tlc ( keep it mostly shaded, fertilize and water well) this tree will back bud like crazy next spring or the year after...nice trunk!
