Question Bahama Berry Moun Jean tea plant (Nashia Inaguensis)

Regarding my Bahama Berry plant....

I've only had it one day and I'm wondering if it's leaves are supposed to feel dry-like an artificial plant or cat's tounge . Will this change once the plant is settled in a new pot and environment? Other than the dry leaves the plant looks great and smells great.
Also, at the base of the plant the roots seem to be sending out feelers from 1.5 to 2 inchins from the top of the soil. Is this normal? It was a bit potbound when I received it but had healthy thick white roots.
I know it's supposedly only found on in the Bahamas but how tropical/humid of an environment do I need to provide? a plastic bag over it or just an occasional stay near the shower.

I'm afraid you've got me, mage: I'm not familiar with this species and its needs. But have you tried a Google search?

From the look of the picture, I would expect the leaves to feel that way. There are many plant species that have rough/hairy textured leaves.

"crispy"

Thank you for your responses! I have done a google search and 1 reference calls it a "crispy" plant and the "I die dry" plant that likes a hot humid environment. It is said that if it wilts it will most likely die. So I guess it's a combination of a crispy by nature tropical plant that was dry when I received it.

I've since cut off some dry, dead extremities and mist it daily and have let it enjoy the humid environment near the shower. It hasn't wilted or changed much and still smells great.

I also took 3-4 cuttings all of which died.

Thanks again

by the way, does anyone know if the little green plants growing near the aerial roots (center and left in the photo) is a weed or some type of ground cover?

it is a weed, but it could be a ground cover if you don't pull em out
