My Neem bonsai requires designing

Hi everyone,

I have been growing a neem (neem tree is one of the common species in India, known for its medicinal values) bonsai from a very young sapling, for last 5 years. Due to various reasons I had stopped maintaining it (in terms of designing/pruning etc, but I kept it healthy), and I was doing lot of aesthetical mistakes with this tree and not having enough knowledge about the ramification etc then.

Now, I saw this tree grown up well, I recently hard prunned its root ball and transferred into a small pot, the responded well but slowly (see the pics). But I feel this tree requires a kind of final designing to be carried out and I m not happy with the straight branch at right side.

I feel currently a literati structure would be good for it,but somehow verymuch hesitant to remove the branch. I welcome your kind suggestions regarding this.

Hi Saravanan, if this tree was mine i would take an air layer of the branch on the left just above the 'v' of where the two branches meet and grow this as my new tree. Its a nice looking canopy and would make a nice looking tree, cheers Phil G.

Hi Phil,
Thanks for the idea. I am not sure this species can be air layerd, but will look into internet and explore that option.
