About Crabapple Bonsai!
Hello there,
I was just wondering what else i can do for this crabapple that i am trying to bonsai... I have had a go at hollowing the cut i made for the height and am just wondering if shoots will start to come from this? If not what should i do? Lol as you can tell im relatively new to this :P Thanks, tn89uk. |

It now needs time to grow new foliage and recover from your initial work. Once new leave appear you can consider feeding and thinking on what direction you will continue next year.

Not sure what you mean by "hollowing the cut." However, like Jim said, you should now allow it to grow for a year before doing anything further. Take it step-by-step. It needs to regain strength. You will probably see a profusion of new buds soon--keep the ones you want and rub out the rest while they are still small. Feed this tree well!

Be careful with that tree--repotting is very stressful on the tree and you've already done a lot of work on it. Our suggestion was to do nothing but feed the tree, and you did one of the most stressful tasks you can do to a tree in the worst time of year (unless you are in the Southern hemisphere, of course).Keep it in the shade, keep the soil moist but not wet, and wait for it to recover. Oh, and a few prayers wouldn't hurt. ![]()
