Chinese elm propagation

Hi Fllo, i had good results last year with Chinease elm cuttings by taking the cutting from parent tree, scraped a bit of the bark off to allow for a larger area for rooting, dipped it in rooting gel and placing them in soil inside a propagator.
I then placed the propagator in a shaded area and allowed it to steam up.Take the lid of the propagator for about 20mins a day to let air around the cuttings and dont let the soil dry out. Phil G

I do it like Phil does it. Works well. You can use a plastic container that cakes or other baked goods come in as well if you want something cheaper. Keep the foliage from touching the sides or it will rot. I like to use 100% Turface for cuttings--seems to keep mold down.
