Beginner Inherited Ficus

Hello all and thank you for this resource.

I inherited what I believe to be a ficus. It appears to be in poor condition. I would appreciate any assistance identifying it along with recommendations on maintenance, pruning etc. The tree is very important to me as a connection to my friend and I don't want to damage it further.

Thanks for your time!

Hi lawotto, and welcome to BonsaiCHAT.

Can't really see too much of the trunk, but from the leaves it looks like a retusa, which luckily, is quite hardy. The only advice I can give at this time is to make sure that it gets plenty of sunlight, and or, very good artificial light.
Don't over water it, but yet, keep the soil moist. At this time any good fertilizer such as Miracle Grow or any other commercial fertilizer for indoor plants, albeit a ficus is not really considered as an indoor plant, they can grow quite well indoor’s if given the proper amount of lighting and care. Feed it at half the recommend dose per instructions should suffice nicely. If it is indeed a retusa, which I strongly suspect it is, about the only way to kill one is to place it in a blender! For now, you can give THIS a look to get a general idea as to the care if ficus.
