It is a well known fact that the optimum time to re-pot deciduous treas is at just on leaf burst. But what happens if you miss that window of opportunity?

Three weeks after leaf burst and the leaves have 'hardened' off then that is your next chance to do the re-pot. Just make sure you follow all the normal procedures like keeping in shade etc. I did this with some English Elms and Tridents and they didn't miss a beat. I got the information from a bonsaist of over 30 years experience.
