Well, I just pulled about 40 trees out of winter storage, and my ratio looks good. There are only 5 possible casualties - two of which would not be a surprise. I rescued a huge boxwood shrub from along the side of the road last Nov., and I can't tell yet if the two pieces of it that I planted have survived the winter or not. I have one azalea that got too dry at one point, and I'm waiting to see if it sprouts. The last two are a cypress and a crepe myrtle - not familiar enough with them to see the signs of deadness or not.
The long range weather forecast looks good, though I might be doing some dancing next Sat if the temps drop as they now predict - now that I have my trees out. Doesn't matter - they had to come out, as my root cellar is getting up to 50F which is not cool enough to keep them dormant, and I have several things with buds opening.
